An Israeli journalist reveals the details of a visit by a Syrian opposition delegation to Tel Aviv

The Israeli media revealed the visit of a delegation from the Syrian opposition abroad to Tel Aviv to discuss what he called "Syrian-Israeli peace initiative."

"A delegation from the Syrian opposition is in Tel Aviv and is now meeting with Israeli officials," Cohen wrote in a tweet at his Twitter account published on Sunday.

Cohen published a video clip during his meeting with Syrian opposition leader Al-Maqam in Germany, Essam Zeitoun, who heads the delegation, revealing some details about the visit and its purpose. He also discussed with Zeitoun his "initiative for peace" in Syria.

"The initiative stems from the conviction that the Syrians have not reached a formula to end the killing at least," Zeitoun said in the video, which aims to "secure the interests of strategic countries and cut off the tumultuous hands in Syria."

He explained that it proposes to put Syria during the transitional period under international tutelage because the opposition is unable to form security institutions.

He said: "At the beginning must address the file of security .. We need countries or coalitions or coalitions international military intervene to impose security."

The plan also seeks to "drive the people, especially Iran, out of Syria to limit Assad's authority."

The visit was not the first of its kind for Zeitoun. It was preceded by another visit in September 2016. He participated in the Herzliya Conference on Israeli National Security, presenting himself as a representative of the Free Syrian Army.
