Biram Dah Abeid, anti-slavery activist, comes second with 18%. He is closely followed by Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubacar, candidate of the moderate Islamist party, with 17%. Opposition candidates denounce many cases of fraud and ask citizens to resist. "We reject the results of this election and we consider that they do not express the will of the Mauritanian people " says Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubacar.
