It was also seen by observers that giving the tournament to Morocco, which has already made more than a request for the World Cup, will be the best compensation for the withdrawal of the African Nations Cup of 2017 and grant them to Gabon. On December 12, Morocco's Minister of Youth and Sports Rachid Talbi disagreed with expectations that his country would not apply for the tournament.

On January 8, the Executive Committee of the Executive Committee of KAC decided during its meetings in the Senegalese capital of Dakar to grant Egypt the honor of hosting after it overtook South Africa in the vote of the members of the Committee. Egypt won 16 votes against a single vote for South Africa, while one abstained.
