British Airways announced on Saturday (July 20, 2019) the suspension of flights over the next seven days to Cairo due to security concerns.

The company said in a letter to passengers on its website that it made the "bold" decision to suspend flights to Cairo "as a precaution to allow further evaluation" following a review of the "security arrangements".

"We regret to inform you that your flight from Heathrow Airport in London to Cairo has been canceled," the company said in its message, which also appeared on social networking sites.

"We constantly review our security arrangements at all our airports around the world and have suspended flights to Cairo for seven days as a precautionary measure to allow for further assessment," the company said. "Safety and security for our customers and our staff is always our priority, and we will never operate a plane unless it is safe," the company said.
